As is customary in Prague, two interesting events took place this late afternoon - the christening of the new yearbook of Czech architecture in Strašnice and a lecture by the Slovenian studio Sadar Vuga at the Municipal Library.
A tradition of yearbook christenings is the choice of venue for the celebration. It always takes place in one of the published buildings. This year, the event was hosted by the new showroom-design center of the Sipral factory by Stanislav Fiala and Daniela Palubědová. A number of architects and media representatives attended the event.
The christening was opened by the director of the non-profit organization Prostor, Dagmar Vernerová, who passed the word to the godmother of this year's yearbook - Slovak historian and architecture theorist Henrietá Moravčíková. After a personal confession and Slovak admiration for the publishing of Czech yearbooks, the words were taken by the director of Sipral and the chairman of the board of the non-profit organization Prostor - Leopold Bareš. He represented architect Fiala, who refused to personally present the showroom, and himself introduced the new part of the Sipral factory. The editor of the yearbook - architect Alexandr Skalický - concluded the christening and pointed out the hard work accompanying the creation of the book. The next yearbook will be compiled by Jan Šépka.
