Prague - The reconstruction of the Žižkov stadium will cost tens of millions of crowns. Prague 3 wants to negotiate the necessary investments with the future tenant or tenants, and sponsorship assistance is also being considered. The city hall would not shy away from a possible renaming of the stadium. This was stated by deputy mayors Ivan Holeček (ČSSD) and Alexander Bellu (ODS).

The municipality signed a lease agreement with the football club Slavoj Vyšehrad. The rent amounts to 100,000 crowns. With the current long-term tenant, the indebted Viktoria Žižkov, the city hall has not yet found common ground. "Several proposals have been made, but we have not yet agreed on any," said Bellu. The city hall reportedly last proposed to the club that it pay half of the owed 1.2 million crowns, with the remaining amount to be paid gradually. The municipality is also seeking repayment of the debt in court.
Prague 3 owns the stadium and has gradually paid 70 million crowns for it over the last few years. The consolidation of assets was completed last year with the purchase of an administrative building, stands, and lighting.
The Žižkov club has previously been notorious for corruption scandals related to the management of Ivan Horník. The media point out that players have not been paid for several months. Former Viktoria official Jiří Rýva recently purchased 100 percent of the club's shares from Luďek Vinš and wants to lead Viktoria out of the economic crisis.
The Žižkov footballers will play in the third highest league ČFL next season, as they did not receive a license for the second league. Vyšehrad, which was promoted to the second league, does not have a suitable stadium for this competition.
