The reconstruction of the Kralupy brewery is starting, the city has handed over the construction site to the contractor

Kralupy nad Vltavou - The renovation of the brewery in Kralupy nad Vltavou in the Mělník region into a cultural center is starting; the city handed over the construction site to the contractor this week. The work will take about two years. A seven-story cultural center will be created, where mainly the city's contributory organizations will find their new premises, informed today the spokesperson of Kralupy City Hall, Aleš Levý.

The company Strabag began taking over the construction site on Monday, will gradually fence the construction area, set up a crane, and then demolition work and the actual renovation will begin. "The reconstruction will understandably bring some inconvenience to the citizens; the square and Vaníčkova Street will be the most affected by the construction, and there will also be an increase in freight traffic in the center," said the mayor of Kralupy nad Vltavou, Libor Lesák (ODS).

The upper part of the building will serve as a house for children and youth in Kralupy, along with a basic art school, while the lower floors will house a library and a city museum. There should also be a restaurant with a small brewery operational here.

The city will pay approximately 400 million crowns for the overall renovation, half of which will be covered by a European grant. The city hall leadership has been saving money for the renovation for several years. The building is located in the city center. It was founded in 1872 by Josef Fischer. It is one of the few historical buildings in the city.
