Kralupy nad Vltavou

Kralupy nad Vltavou (Mělnicko) – The reconstruction of the Kralupy brewery in the city center is approximately halfway through after a year of work. Roofs are being built, construction continues inside, and networks and utilities are being installed. The renovated building will serve, among other things, an art school, a library, and a museum. The investment of around 400 million CZK is expected to be completed by November 2025, said the spokesperson for the Kralupy municipality, Aleš Levý.

The building had been unused for many years and had not served its original purpose since the 1970s. According to earlier plans, it was to be demolished, but based on the opinion of local residents, the city management decided to preserve and fully renovate it. Work began last autumn. "The project is proceeding according to schedule," Levý stated.

The upper part of the building will house the Kralupy House of Children and Youth together with the basic art school, while the lower floors will accommodate a library, a city museum, and an interactive hall. A small brewery, restaurant, and café are also planned.

Approximately half of the costs will be covered by a European grant. The brewery was founded in 1872 by Josef Fischer. It is one of the few historical buildings in the city.
