Hradec Králové - Police are investigating the reconstruction of the Hradec Králové square on October 28 and the surrounding streets. The criminal report mentions suspicions of fraud and other criminal activities. This information is provided by Mladá fronta Dnes in its current issue for the Hradec Králové region. "We have received the criminal report. It is not an allegation against a specific person, but against a collective, more precisely city hall officials. It concerns non-standard equipment and lighting in the reconstructed areas of the square on October 28 and in the surrounding streets," said Ivana Ježková, spokesperson for the Hradec Králové police. The report was filed by Jaroslav Kott, chairman of the civic association Light for Hradec, who had many reservations about the project. Deputy Mayor of Hradec Králové Jindřich Vedlich rejects the allegations and claims that the city as the investor could not influence the prices. "We simply determined the type of luminaires according to the documentation. We do not set the price or the manufacturer," he stated. The renovation of the square, which cost nearly 100 million CZK, was completed at the end of December. The reconstruction of the square and streets began in the summer of 2012 and has been accompanied by problems from the start. The repaired square has new paving, a fountain, and a water channel, and the area has received new furniture and lighting.
