Planá (Tachovsko) - Planá in Tachov completed an architectural competition for the reconstruction of the cinema for 12 to 13 million crowns. It will be transformed into a multifunctional center for people's gatherings. The project, costing three quarters of a million crowns, will be completed this year. The town will also renovate the unattractive funeral hall for four to five million crowns this year. This was stated by the mayor of five-thousand-strong Planá, Martina Němečková.
"The funeral hall will be realized this year, but the cinema will be financially more demanding, as it needs to be made into a multifunctional facility and equipped with internal technologies," she stated.
The cinema in Planá operates once a week, with a maximum attendance of 15 people. The cinema itself has no chance, she said.
"We have no space for representation, culture, and people's gatherings. We really miss it," Němečková said. The priority for the town is to continue the reconstruction of the square and the redevelopment of the cinema in the future. However, it is possible that the new councilors will feel priorities completely differently, she added.
Residents are currently meeting temporarily in the hall above the school gym or in the library opposite the town hall, which can accommodate up to 30 people. Larger events, such as the firefighters' ball, must be organized by the locals in Chodová Planá.
A two-round architectural competition was held for the funeral hall, with 27 designs submitted. Five made it to the shortlist. The town then set criteria for placement and costs. "Now it will be competed as a public contract. Because there were rental agreements with funeral services and similar arrangements that had a six-month notice period, the realization will take place only at the end of summer and in the autumn," she stated.
In the reconstruction of the unattractive funeral hall, the town had to work with the current layout; the outer walls will remain. The zoning plan only allows intervention in certain surrounding spaces.
