Pardubice - Pardubice has chosen a company that will repair the Cihelna swimming pool. The contract was awarded to Agrostav Pardubice for a price of 108.3 million crowns excluding VAT. The estimated price in the competition was lower, around 98 million crowns excluding VAT. The reconstruction is planned to be completed in time for the facility to serve the public starting in the summer of 2024, said Radim Jelínek, spokesman for the city hall to ČTK.

The Cihelna swimming pool has already been closed this season. The pools are in very poor condition and the technology is outdated. The last repair dates back to 2000. According to the tender documentation, it will be necessary to repair and modernize the existing pools and technology, including the selected furnishings. The pool liners and tiles will be removed and replaced with stainless steel sheeting with reinforced PVC membrane on the walls, which will be thicker on the bottom. The stairs, including the adjacent outdoor corridors around the stands and the diving pool terraces, must be repaired. It is also necessary to replace the pumps, filters, fittings, ladders, showers in the children's pool, diving boards, fencing of the clean zone, electrical installations, showers, irrigation, or benches, and to paint the load-bearing steel structures of the slides and chutes. The project also includes the repair of the changing room building and the sanitary facilities building.

The city decided to repair the swimming pool last autumn. It was divided into two parts due to financial limits. The Pardubice area is leased, and it has been operated by Petr Ministr for two decades.

The Cihelna swimming pool dates back to 1960. The area covers over four hectares, with a water surface of 3500 square meters. The capacity of the facility reaches up to 4000 people. In Pardubice, there is another swimming facility, Sluneční pláž, which opens the season on June 1, with a capacity of 1700 people.
