Olomouc - Several hundred employees of state offices, which are currently located in several places in Olomouc, are expected to fill the offices in the spacious building of the Hanácké barracks in the historic center of Olomouc in the future. This was stated by Radek Ležatka, spokesperson for the Office for Representing the State in Property Matters (ÚZSVM), in response to a query from ČTK. The Hanácké barracks were used by the army for about 170 years, and the property has been vacant since 2013.
The ÚZSVM is now taking care of the Hanácké barracks, which is preparing for its further use. "Currently, the National Heritage Institute is conducting a structural and historical survey, which will be followed by the preparation of a feasibility study. The building is now being maintained with the care of a prudent manager, with security for the building and its routine maintenance," Ležatka stated.
According to him, the schedule for the next steps will be established only after the completion of the structural and historical survey, the structural-technical survey, and the subsequent preparation of the feasibility study. After that, the costs for the reconstruction and conversion of the Hanácké barracks into the headquarters for state officials will also be known.
"According to the actual condition of the building, it is currently possible to relocate about 450 employees to the building. The number of places will be specified after the preparation of the feasibility study, which will take into account the requirements of individual organizational units of the state," Ležatka noted.
Employees of state organizations who are currently located in rented premises or in state-owned buildings, which are too costly to operate, are expected to move to the renovated Hanácké barracks. For example, the branches of the General Directorate of Customs, the State Veterinary Administration, the Land Registry Office for the Olomouc region, and the Czech School Inspectorate are considered.
In 2014, the Olomouc Region expressed interest in the Hanácké barracks, aiming to establish storage for the museum and library, offices for organizations managing European grants, and a store for regional food. Ultimately, the regional authority abandoned this plan.
