The state has launched the second auction for the Hanácká barracks in Olomouc, which will end on Wednesday

Olomouc – The Office for Representation of the State in Property Matters (ÚZSVM) today launched the second round of an electronic auction for the sale of the extensive site of the Hanácké kasárna in the historic center of Olomouc. The property could not be sold in the September auction. The minimum price is 262 million crowns. The auction will end on Wednesday at 10:00 AM. The auction could commence because at least one interested party submitted a deposit of 27 million crowns within the specified timeframe. Michaela Tesařová, a spokesperson for ÚZSVM, informed ČTK today. The second round of the auction was announced after Palacký University abandoned its intention to directly purchase this property.

The result of the auction will be known on Wednesday after 10:00 AM. To produce a winner, bidders must make at least one bid; so far, no one has done so. "The first bid must be at least the amount of the declared minimum price, which is 262 million crowns. Subsequent bids must increase the amount by at least 100,000 crowns. The aim of ÚZSVM is to find a definitive owner for this exceptional property who would give it new life," Tesařová stated. The minimum price of the Hanácké kasárna is the same as in the first round of the selection process.

The Hanácké kasárna was used by the army for 170 years, and since 2013 it has been empty, with further use for state officials deemed more expensive by the Ministry of Defense than selling and potentially constructing a new administrative building. In the first round of the selection process at the beginning of September, only one interested party registered, but they did not make a bid. ÚZSVM then negotiated the sale of the barracks with Palacký University, which expressed interest in the extensive property in the center, but its management eventually changed its mind. Foreign investors were also interested in the Hanácké kasárna.

The Hanácké kasárna building has an office area of over 2,000 square meters. Originally, it was considered that hundreds of state office workers, currently located in multiple places in Olomouc, would move there. However, according to the Ministry of Defense, further use for state officials would be more costly than selling and possibly constructing a new administrative building.

In 2014, the Olomouc region expressed interest in the Hanácké kasárna building, planning to use it for museum and library repositories, offices for organizations handling European subsidies, and a store for regional food. The regional government ultimately abandoned the plan.
