Olomouc - The Olomouc municipal swimming stadium will undergo modernization next year. The investment will include the reconstruction of the entrance to the complex and new turnstiles. If the city succeeds in obtaining a grant, it will also replace the outdoor pool basin. This was stated by the Deputy Mayor Martin Major to ČTK.

Visitors to the pool will, according to him, use a chip device thanks to the new turnstile system, which will also serve for making purchases within the stadium complex. "New turnstiles will be installed in the outdoor part of the stadium by the beginning of the summer season next year. In the indoor part, chip wallets will be in use by the end of 2009," Major stated.
The investment is expected to cost approximately 5.5 million crowns according to preliminary estimates. The costs will be covered by the operator of the swimming stadium, the company Olterm & TD Olomouc. "The investment will be reflected in the contract between the city and Olterm in terms of increasing the value of the city's property," added the Deputy Mayor.
The city also plans to replace the outdoor pool basin, which dates back to the 1960s and is in poor condition, and to build a new children's pool in the outdoor part of the swimming stadium. The city estimates the cost of this project at 40 million crowns. "If we manage to obtain a grant for the investment, we will start the renovations after the end of the summer season next year. It would be completed before the following season," Major said.
The Olomouc swimming stadium has been in operation since 1965. In recent years, the complex has been visited by an average of 380,000 people annually. Residents of Olomouc will also be able to enjoy a water park starting in May next year, which the city has been building in partnership with the consortium of companies Atzwanger, Gemo, and Skanska since the end of last year. The investment will require approximately half a billion crowns.
