OLOMOUC - The Olomouc City Hall will spend 10.7 million crowns this year on the reconstruction of the local swimming stadium. However, people will not see the investment, as the city will repair the water management technology - the treatment plant and water distribution systems. Due to the reconstruction, the indoor pool will be closed in July, but the outdoor area will remain open, said Deputy Mayor Miroslav Petřík to ČTK today. The current water management technology of the swimming stadium dates back to the 1960s and does not meet current trends. New hygiene regulations are also forcing the City Hall to make repairs. "The goal of the modernization is to achieve and maintain high-quality, clean, and hygienically safe water in the entire area of both pools, including the outdoor children's pool, regardless of weather changes and fluctuations in the number of visitors," said Pavel Kolář, the director of the company that operates the municipal swimming stadium. The City Hall will try to ensure that the reconstruction does not disrupt the operation of the facility. The outdoor pools will be the first to undergo repairs. They will last until May 1, when the gates of the outdoor area will open. The indoor pool will be out of operation for one month, from July 1 to August 1, added Petřík. The Olomouc City Hall regularly invests in the repairs and modernization of the swimming stadium. For example, in 2004, it repaired the roof of the indoor hall and additionally opened an aquacenter for children in cooperation with the pool operator, which offers swimming classes for toddlers to interested parties.
