Prague – The Ministry of Defense is offering former border fortification objects or land in newly published advertisements. People can purchase so-called "řopíky" in northern Moravia and Silesia, or plots near Hradec Králové and Žatec. Jiří Caletka from the ministry's press department communicated this in a press release today. Details are provided on the website.

The office is offering 18 properties with a minimum purchase price of 3.56 million crowns, with 11 of them being new offers. The ministry is now offering four plots in Hradec Králové, two of which are in the local parts of Věkoše and Pouchov and two in the part of Rusek. "These two plots are attractive due to their location, as they are in close proximity to Hradec Králové airport," noted Caletka.

Interested parties can also purchase a plot of approximately half a hectare located north of Žatec at the southern edge of the strategic industrial zone Triangle. Two plots of less than a hectare are located in the cadastre of the village of Velichov near Žatec and two slightly smaller plots south of Jihlava in the cadastre of the village of Pístov.

The office traditionally offers highly sought-after objects from the former border fortifications. In northern Moravia and Silesia, there are six fortifications on foreign land available. This includes heavy fortifications in the suburban area of Jaktař in Opava, as well as five "řopíky," or light fortification bunkers, which are being offered for the first time. Three are in the cadastre of the village of Adolfovice in Jesenicko, and two in the cadastre of Šléglov in Šumperk. New to the offer are also three "řopíky" with their own land in Bohemia, specifically in the village of Očihov near Podbořany in the Louny region.

The defense ministry disposes of unnecessary properties annually. The offers predominantly include land or bunkers from the First Republic fortifications. The former fortifications of Czechoslovakia are still considered properties designated for the defense of the state; therefore, their management is the responsibility of the Ministry of Defense. In 2005, the ministry decided that fortifications would be preferentially transferred free of charge to the owners of the land beneath them. If they were not interested, clubs of military history or surrounding municipalities could receive them for free. Another option is their sale. According to the department managing unneeded property of the Ministry of Defense, the transfers of stronghold fortifications began on a larger scale since 2008.
