Prague – The Ministry of Defense has once again offered for sale parts of the Czechoslovak pre-war fortifications. A total of 17 so-called "řopíky" are available for purchase in Silesia, the Žatec region, and South Moravia. The Defense Ministry is also offering several unnecessary plots of land. Jiří Caletka from the ministry's press department announced this today to ČTK.

The Ministry of Defense advertises a total of 23 properties with a minimum required purchase price of 1.3 million crowns. "Once again, the offer includes very sought-after properties of the former border fortifications. There are 17 smaller řopíky, nine of which are for sale for the very first time,” Caletka stated.

Two of the offered řopíky, that is, light fortification bunkers, are located in the Žatec area southeast of Podbořany near the village of Očihov. In Moravia, three properties for sale are located near the village of Sedlec near Mikulov. The other offered řopíky are in Silesia; three near Adolfovice by Jeseník and three near the village of Zlatníky by Opava. Another six řopíky are near the village of Sádek, also close to Opava.

The Ministry of Defense is also offering six plots of land of varying sizes. According to Caletka, the most interesting offer consists of two plots in the Prachatice area, one of which is located about 500 meters south of the Husinec water reservoir near the village of Oseky.

The Defense Ministry is repeatedly getting rid of unnecessary properties. The offers predominantly feature plots of land or bunkers from the First Republic period. The former fortifications of Czechoslovakia are still considered properties intended for the defense of the state, and thus their management is the responsibility of the Ministry of Defense. In 2005, the ministry decided that the fortifications would primarily be transferred without compensation to the owners of the land below them. If they were not interested, they could be given free of charge, for example, to military history clubs or surrounding municipalities. Another option is their sale. The transfers of the fortification structures have been taking place on a larger scale since 2008, according to the Ministry of Defense's department for dealing with unnecessary property.
