Prague - 11 sales stalls offering refreshments, flowers, and print materials will operate at Wenceslas Square in Prague until next year. One of them will serve as an information booth, operated by the Prague Information Service. This was stated by councilor Lukáš Manhart (TOP 09) in response to a query from ČTK. Over the past few months, there have been heated debates regarding the future of the stalls. According to the market regulations, there are currently seven sales points operating at Wenceslas Square - five stalls and two others that are part of the city's furniture. According to the amendment approved by the councilors, four more will be added to them. Contracts will be concluded by the middle of next year. Originally, there were 23 stalls offering refreshments, flowers, and tobacco products in the square. However, Prague decided to change the vendors and their operators. Therefore, at the end of 2012, it terminated most tenancy agreements. The operators refused to cease sales, and Prague has been in court with them over unpaid rent and fees ever since. The first new stalls from Cigler Marani Architects were supposed to be in place last year. However, Prague's heritage protectors did not approve their design, and due to this, Prague did not announce the contract, approved by the council, worth 44.2 million crowns excluding VAT. The project will be reworked, making the acquisition of new sales points a distant prospect. At the same time, the square is marred by some old and closed stalls that nobody has removed yet.
