The radiators have disappeared from the Most housing estate, the city bought new ones

Most - From the apartments in the Chanov housing estate in Most, inhabited by Roma and socially maladjusted individuals, 36 radiators have been stolen. According to Deputy Mayor Hana Jeníčková, all the heating appliances were taken by thieves from locked apartments, mostly at night. The radiators had not yet been filled with water before the heating season. The residents of the apartments apparently noticed nothing, and the city's cost for buying new units was over 150,000 crowns, Jeníčková told reporters today.
    The Department of Municipal Property manages 352 apartments in Chanov, of which 80 are completely destroyed. The residents of the housing estate owe the city more than 81 million crowns in rent. "In connection with the theft of the radiators, we have filed a criminal complaint against an unknown perpetrator. The housing estate has been without hot water for years due to the debts. However, we are required by law to provide heating," Jeníčková stated.
    The city has already had new radiators installed, and water began to be filled into them on Thursday. "The radiators likely ended up in scrap metal collection points. As a preventive measure, we currently have water in the system, and its pressure does not allow the heating units to be cut off. We are working with the city lawyers to find a way to prevent thefts even during the summer period," Jeníčková added.
    Maintaining order in the housing estate and protecting it from thieves is beyond the capabilities of both the city and the police. In addition to the theft of heating units, the magistrate is dealing with vandalism, especially in block 13, where the only elevator is located. Therefore, an additional camera monitoring the hallways will be installed alongside the one located outside the building.
    In the future, the magistrate, according to Jeníčková, wants to change its approach towards the residents of the housing estate and favor those who pay rent and behave properly. In Chanov, with more than 1,600 residents, there are only seven families who meet these criteria. These tenants also do not have any debts from the past.
