The Lednice Minaret is still waiting for the completion of its renovation and will not participate in the competition.
Brno - The city hall, associations, and the public can propose for awards by February 20 any of the architectural or artistic monuments renovated last year from South Moravia. The competition is organized for the fifth time by the South Moravian Region in an effort to assist in the restoration of historical buildings and valuable furniture in the region. The winner will receive a reward of 150,000 crowns, said Jiří Klement, the region's spokesman to ČTK. Proposals for the award can be sent by emailing vesely.pavel@kr-jihomoravsky.cz with information about the monument. Experts will select the finalists from these submissions. The winner will be chosen by the public through online voting, where photographs of the submitted monuments and detailed descriptions will be available. Voting will take place on the region's website in March. The competition is divided into three categories. Large buildings include castles, chateaus, churches, monasteries, parishes, fortresses, and farmsteads. However, smaller structures, such as chapels, bell towers, and wayside crosses, can also be submitted. Some artistic works will also be awarded. This category includes paintings, sculptures, and murals. Each monument proposed for the award will have a detailed description of the modifications made to it last year. A total of 300,000 crowns will be divided between the main winner and the winners of other categories. Regional officials anticipate that these funds will be invested in further restoration of historical buildings. Last year's winner of the poll was the Church of the Name of the Virgin Mary from Slup in the Znojmo region, awarded for its restored dome. In the category of movable monuments, the top place was taken by the restored organ from the church in Vranov nad Dyjí in Znojmo, which is the largest Renaissance Catholic temple in Moravia.
