Mladá Boleslav - The Mladá Boleslav City Hall is searching for a suitable location for a low-threshold youth club. The construction of the club has been considered for more than a year. Originally, the club was to be in a building on Laurin Street, but other locations are now being considered, said Deputy Mayor Jaroslav Polívka to journalists today. The building on Laurin Street, which the city previously acquired from the Ministry of Defense, was originally identified as suitable for a low-threshold center. "The ideal situation is that the operation of the club in that place would not disturb anyone, as there are no residents nearby," the deputy said. On the other hand, he noted that a disadvantage is that the building is relatively far from the housing estate where the target group of young people moves. "To encourage them to go to the club, it should presumably be closer to them," Polívka pointed out. Additionally, it is said that the rescue service is interested in the building on Laurin Street, as they want to set up an ambulance washing station there. Therefore, the city is also looking for other options. Spaces under the new post office in the Northern Housing Estate or New Park seem ideal. "The basement under the post office is a large space where a center could be established. Moreover, we have found out that youth gather behind the post office, so they could easily use the club," Polívka added, noting that city representatives will go to inspect the identified places next week. The establishment of a low-threshold facility for children and youth is one of the priorities of the Community Plan for Social Services in Mladá Boleslav. It is intended primarily for youth aged 14 to 18 years. Professional workers are supposed to provide social counseling and assistance in difficult situations to children here. The center will also offer suitable ways to fill their free time, for example through various games.
