Mladá Boleslav - The facility of the former barracks in Mladá Boleslav could serve as a luxury hotel. The company Grandezza Hotels purchased it from the city five years ago for 12.5 million crowns. The company has now invested roughly another six million crowns into the most necessary repairs and securing the property. According to information from ČTK, the owner is expected to decide on the form of the investment plan by the end of the year, but is hesitating due to the economic recession. The company signed a purchase agreement with the municipality back in 2008. Last April, the representatives approved an amendment to the contract, according to which the company must secure the dilapidated property on Jičínská Street against unauthorized access and repair its facades and roof within 18 months. The amendment also established the total price of 12.5 million crowns. The original intention of the owner has been postponed in recent years due to the deepening effects of the economic crisis. The company's executive, lawyer Petr Douša, told ČTK that by the end of the year it should be clear how the building will be dealt with. The plan for a luxury hotel and above-standard apartments could also be replaced by a business-administrative center. There is allegedly no danger that a cheap hostel would arise in the building with battlements. Furthermore, the company has a contractual agreement with the city that it will not operate a gaming house, pawnshop, or business activities with erotic goods and services, or similar activities in the building. The deadline of November 5 marks the time by which the owner was to carry out the required modifications. In the past week, representatives of the city visited the site and confirmed that the building now has a new roof and trusses. The facade of the walls facing Jičínská Street is also repaired, and the company intends to hire permanent security to prevent homeless individuals from returning to the barracks. Just the removal of waste from the interiors cost about 750,000 crowns. According to Pavel Šubrt from the Mladá Boleslav municipality, the total investment in repairs amounts to around six million crowns. There are currently 11 facilities providing hotel accommodation in Mladá Boleslav and the adjacent Kosmonosy. Five of them boast a four-star hotel rating. The price for the most expensive suite in the historic center of the city ranges from 2,580 to 2,710 crowns per night.
