Nymburk - A new footbridge across the Elbe in Nymburk will be built for nearly 105 million crowns by the company Hochtief. It won the tender. The footbridge is set to be completed in 2021, the town hall spokesperson Petr Černohous stated today in a press release. The original footbridge was demolished by the city in 2018 due to its dilapidated condition. It had the same structure and was designed by the same designer as the footbridge in Prague-Troja, which collapsed into the Vltava River in 2017.
The company offered a price of 104.95 million crowns excluding VAT. "Now we are looking forward to concluding the contract for the construction works with this company and handing over the construction site," stated Mayor Tomáš Mach (Calm Nymburk).
The evaluation committee first assessed the submitted bids. Following this, an electronic auction took place, in which individual suppliers optimized their offers according to the evaluation criteria that were established at the beginning of the procurement process. According to the city, Hochtief's offer was the most appropriate and favorable.
The new footbridge, 228 meters long, will be located in the alignment of the former footbridge, connecting the Zálabí district with the city center. The design for the new footbridge was prepared by the company SHP - Stráský, Hustý, and partners. The managing director of the firm and the author of the design is the designer Jiří Stráský, who also designed the footbridge in Prague-Troja and the previous one in Nymburk.
"We have had the building permit since December 2019, and now we will be specifying the timeline for the construction works, traffic engineering measures, and establishing the construction site. After handing over the construction site, we will be watching together with our citizens as the new footbridge grows before our eyes," added Mach.
The original footbridge was closed to pedestrians in December 2017, and boats were prohibited from passing under the footbridge since June 2018; at the same time, the city closed the area on both banks beneath the footbridge. River traffic was resumed after two months on August 8, following the demolition of the footbridge.
