Kutná Hora - Kutná Hora will request a grant from the Ministry of Education for the completion of the sports hall. The costs are estimated at 35 million crowns, and the grant should cover half. If the city does not obtain the grant, it will likely reduce the project and pay from its own resources, said Mayor Josef Viktora (ANO) to reporters today.

"A grant program of the Ministry of Education has been announced, we will submit the application by the end of the year," said Viktora. By March, the city should receive a report from the ministry on how the application turned out. The city hall could announce a tender before this date and condition the signing of a contract with the winning company on the acceptance of the grant.

The city originally wanted to use the option and automatically award the contract to the company that has been constructing the hall so far. However, costs should not exceed approximately 24 million crowns, which the mayor said is not realistic. The city hall therefore has to issue a new tender for the final phase.

The hall began to take shape in 2016 and has been serving athletes since May of this year. The first phase of work, which involved the construction of the main building, cost 60.5 million crowns, and the city received a grant from the Ministry of Education and from the region for it. However, the city did not receive a grant for the second phase, which was the construction of facilities for athletes. Thus, approximately 78 million crowns had to be paid from an investment loan. This part of the construction was completed this year. Only the final phase remains, which is the creation of training spaces.

The multifunctional hall is intended for basketball, handball, volleyball, futsal, and floorball players. Social and cultural events, such as lectures, fairs, or exhibitions, can also be organized in it.
