Kutná Hora wants to build a sports hall for 40 million crowns

Kutná Hora - Kutná Hora wants to build a hall for indoor sports, which would be used by schoolchildren and local sports clubs. It would be located in the space between the secondary industrial school and Kamenná Stezka Elementary School. The city estimates the costs at 40 million crowns, said Mayor Ivo Šanc (Chance for Kutná Hora) to reporters today.
    The hall, with a seating capacity for 200 to 300 people, is intended to serve schoolchildren in the morning and sports clubs in the afternoon for indoor sports such as handball, floorball, basketball, volleyball, or futsal. "The study should be finished by the end of March. Then follow other processes - design, zoning decision, building permit, and construction so that the hall is already standing next year," added Šanc.
    According to him, the construction will be architecturally quite complex and sensitive because it must not disrupt the character of the classicist building of Kamenná Stezka or the functionalist building of the industrial school. The city wants to obtain part of the money for construction from the Ministry of Education and part from the region. During a recent visit to Kutná Hora, Governor David Rath (ČSSD) became acquainted with the plan, who, according to Šanc, promised financial support to the city.
    The construction of the new hall, according to the mayor, does not change the original plans regarding the construction of a sports hall in the Na Klimešce area. For the construction costing 150 million crowns, which is to have two halls the size of a handball court, the city has had an architectural study prepared for some time. However, it has not yet secured funding for the construction. "This hall should have a broader regional significance, and given its location, we do not anticipate mass use by schools," added Šanc.
