Projectile: Municipal Library Kutná Hora, 2011
Kutná Hora - Kutná Hora wants to convert the former primary school on Na Náměti Street into a municipal library. The costs are estimated at 100 million crowns, of which 95 million could be obtained from the Integrated Regional Operational Program (IROP). The grant will not be requested by the city council, but by the library itself, which could mean lower co-financing. Reconstruction work is expected to begin in 2018, the mayor Martin Starý (Kutnohorská změna) told reporters today.

"It could be funded from the same grant program as the planned reconstruction of the Sankturin and Vlašský houses, as it is essentially the accessibility of a historical monument," said Starý. The city will take advantage of the fact that the former school is part of the historic core listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. "Not only the building would be reconstructed, but also the adjacent two plots of land," added the mayor.

The current spaces of the municipal library at Rejskovo Square are insufficient in capacity; the library could also hold lectures or provide computer training on Na Náměti Street. The building has been vacant for several years after the special school moved out.

The city originally wanted to place the library in a new building that would be constructed near the bus station. The construction would cost 150 million crowns. The city already had a completed project, but eventually abandoned the plans, and the city council decided to place the library in one of the unused buildings.
