The Kroměříž Town Hall presented a visualization of the planned sports hall

Kroměříž – The Kroměříž Town Hall has presented a visualization of the planned multipurpose sports hall on the city’s website. Its construction is being prepared on municipal land in Obvodová Street, spokesperson Jan Vondrášek informed ČTK in a press release. A modern sports hall has long been lacking in Kroměříž.

According to the architect's design, the hall should have a circular floor plan. Considering that part of the land is in a flood zone, it is planned to be built above ground level on an elevated embankment. "The hall will be divided into two floors. The actual playing field, measuring 40 by 20 meters, will be on the lower floor, where there will also be locker rooms, restrooms, a storage room, and other facilities. Spectators will enter the second floor, where they will have their own restroom and refreshments," said Mayor Jaroslav Němec (Independents).

The design includes seating for around 600 spectators, eight locker rooms, a referee's locker room, restrooms for players and spectators, a first aid room, and a room for the hall manager. Parking areas and greenery will be created around the sports facility. The city will now proceed with further preparations for the hall. "We would like to have at least the project documentation completed and the building permit obtained by the end of next year. Ideally, we could start construction next year," added the mayor. At the end of last year, he estimated the costs of building the hall, along with all facilities and access roads, to be around 100 million crowns.

A sports hall with a playing field size of 40 by 20 meters suitable for handball, floorball, and other sports is lacking in Kroměříž. Indoor sports can only be played at a competitive level in the long-standing sports hall on Kotojedská Street, which is mainly occupied by basketball, leaving no room for other sports. The city has decided to build the hall on Obvodová Street, where other sports facilities are already located, namely a football stadium and a swimming pool.
