Brno/Hradec Králové - The Hradec Králové Region received three bids for the reconstruction of the Náchod Regional Hospital. The lowest bid was submitted jointly by Geosan Group and BAK Construction Company, amounting to 1.344 billion crowns excluding VAT. Today, the region opened the envelopes with bids at the headquarters of the Brno-based company RTS. They will still evaluate them and expected greater interest. This current tender for the hospital reconstruction is the fourth in a row, as the previous three competitions were canceled by the regional authority for various reasons.

A bid for the reconstruction of the hospital was also submitted by Zlínstav, offering a price of 1.382 billion, and OHL ŽS, which offered a price of 1.390 billion.

"We expected more interest; however, there has been significant pressure on the construction market lately, and its capacity is relatively full. Perhaps the unsuccessful previous tenders played a role as well,"
said the region's councillor for investments Václav Řehoř (ODS). He is, however, satisfied because the offered prices came in below the announced 1.4 billion CZK.

The bid with the lowest price will now undergo verification to check if it has the necessary requirements and if it is complete and corresponds to the lists of construction work. "Once it is established that the bid meets the tender conditions, the supplier will be designated as selected by the decision of the contracting authority," said the administrator of the tender process Petr Vrbka. If the bid does not contain everything necessary, the second bid in order will be checked.

The current tender was announced by the region on August 1 of this year. The original deadline for opening the bids was October 2, which was subsequently postponed twelve times due to applicants' inquiries. The region received approximately 100 inquiries from potential applicants, which were answered.

Řehoř confirmed that construction could begin next spring and should last 26 months. The foundation of the project is the construction of two new hospital buildings. Additionally, a building for medical gases will be created, an above-ground corridor will be built, and underground corridors between the buildings will also be established. The tender also includes an option for a possible second phase of the hospital modernization, estimated at 420 million crowns, but the selected company will offer the price separately if the region proceeds with the second phase.

Náchod Hospital provides healthcare for a catchment area with more than 200,000 residents and up to 250,000 people in specialized fields. The Náchod Hospital oversees eleven establishments, seven of which provide inpatient care with a total capacity of 832 beds. The hospital employs 1,500 people.
