Vizovice (Zlín Region) - The Vizovice company specializing in modular construction, Koma Modular Construction, will build a three-story administrative building for the French energy company Areva. Areva was one of the companies competing for the expansion of the nuclear power plant in Temelín but was eliminated from the competition. The facility will be located in Normandy in the city of Beaumont-Hague. The value of the contract is 30 million crowns, said Koma's marketing director Martin Hart today to ČTK. The building will be assembled from ten-meter modules. "The individual modules, and thus the entire building, are designed for extreme weather conditions in an aggressive coastal environment. A higher fire resistance is also a given," Hart stated, adding that the cladding of the entire building will be done using aluminum composite panels. The administrative building will be part of a guarded facility for the recycling of nuclear waste. Therefore, the company had to meet strict security criteria, Hart noted. Koma won the tender amidst competition from two French and one English company, mainly due to its references for supplies to other energy companies, according to Hart. The company has been in business for twenty years, having built, for example, the first modular kindergarten in the Czech Republic in Rychnov near Jablonec and the largest modular kindergarten in Jihlava, as well as several other schools across Europe; it also supplied modules for football championships.
