Kladno - The Kladno tower houses will have their own museum, which will be established directly in one of them. The exhibition will recall the story of the housing estate and will also show the appearance of one of the apartments and a civil defense shelter. The costs of establishing the museum will exceed ten million crowns. Kladno councilor Lukáš Hanes (ODS) stated this to ČTK. The Kladno towers belong to the city and are a registered cultural monument.

The museum will be created in collaboration with the Halda association in the first of the six tower houses, ordered moving towards the city center. A showcase apartment, including original furnishings, will be part of the museum. The hall will also be modified to display exhibits recalling the history of the local housing estate. In the second phase, a rooftop observation deck is also planned.

The main architect of the buildings constructed in the 1950s was Josef Havlíček. He was inspired by the French modernist architect Auguste Perret. The project was also contributed to by Karel Filsak and Karel Bubeníček. One of the interesting features of the houses is the artistic decoration with 12 house signs featuring animal motifs, which represent a unique sculptural ensemble. The authors include Marta Jirásková, Břetislav Benda, Mary Duras, Martin Reiner, Bedřich Stefan, and Hana Wichterlová.

In the coming years, the city plans an extensive renovation of the buildings. The scale of the renovation is not yet determined, as the city is reviewing the condition of the buildings. The investment will likely be in the hundreds of millions of crowns.
