Kladno – Tenants of the Rozdělov apartment buildings in Kladno are least satisfied with the quality of the windows, and they also consider the thermal insulation of the façade to be insufficient. On the other hand, more than 60 percent of tenants are satisfied with the management of the building, and nearly 90 percent of tenants expressed satisfaction with the quality of heat supply. This is indicated by a survey conducted within the framework of the Intelligent Energy for Europe program, which aims to lead to lower energy consumption in residential buildings. "This project supported by the European Commission is being carried out in six European countries. Compared to others, tenants in the Czech Republic are more satisfied with the quality of services provided," said Vojtěch Munzar, director of the Kladno Housing Management, to ČTK today, noting that for example, in Britain, only 44 percent of tenants are satisfied with property management according to the survey. The Intelligent Energy for Europe program is expected to reduce the energy consumption of residential buildings. The aim of this project is to prepare recommendations on how to improve the quality of housing and energy services. In the Czech Republic, tower blocks in Kladno–Rozdělov were chosen for this survey. The city of Kladno collaborates on the project with CITYPLAN s.r.o., which is its guarantor for the Czech Republic. Six tower blocks in Kladno-Rozdělov, built in the 1950s, are classified as protected architectural monuments. The first in a series of questionnaire surveys took place in May in the 4th and 6th tower blocks and focused on identifying problems related to energy consumption in residential buildings. According to Munzar, the problem of poor window condition and thermal insulation of the façade is difficult to solve because the Rozdělov tower blocks are under heritage protection. "Another issue is the poor condition of electrical wiring in the apartments, which we are currently addressing by reconstructing the wiring in all six buildings," stated the director of the Kladno Housing Management. A very important part of the project is detailed measurement, which will be conducted in five model apartments in five countries over one heating season. The behavior of tenants regarding apartment temperature, ventilation, and other aspects affecting energy consumption, as well as the healthy indoor environment in apartments, will be assessed and compared. The result of the program will not only be recommendations and a manual for households on how to better manage heat, but also model proposals for renovations and investments aimed at reducing heat consumption while respecting household habits.
