The Karlovy Vary National House is to be reconstructed all at once

Karlovy Vary - The National House in Karlovy Vary, which was acquired last year from the city hall by the company Eldoto, will not be reconstructed in stages, but all at once. The goal is to build a hotel for congress and business tourism. This is indicated by the optimized study that representatives of the company presented today to Karlovy Vary city council members.
"The main change from the original assumptions is the change in hotel capacity. If the hotel were only in the original part of the building, it would have about 75 rooms. With the expansion, it will be around 150 or 170 rooms," said Jindřich Hess from the Eltodo group.
The construction of the new building and the renovation of the old building will happen simultaneously. This will also partially shorten the construction time. The work should be completed by the beginning of 2009. "Thanks to the fact that we approached the project as a whole, construction will take place all at once. The new building is an integral part. This allowed us to move the reception and, thanks to the relocation, we managed to free up the ground floor, thus expanding the entry spaces for cafés or restaurants," stated the main architect of the project, Jan Fousek.
The investor is already clear on the focus of the hotel. It is to be oriented towards congress and business tourism. According to Eldoto, this is a segment currently missing in Karlovy Vary.
The adjusted project no longer counts on the construction of a multiplex cinema. However, there will be a screening room in the Orfeum hall, which will also be available for festival screenings.
The optimized study will now be consulted with heritage conservationists and municipal departments. If there are no delays, the building permit could be issued in the spring of next year. The estimated costs for the renovation and completion of the National House are approximately 700 million crowns. Eltodo will finance it partially from its own resources and partially through bank loans. Although negotiations have already begun regarding the inclusion of the future hotel into a hotel network, a specific agreement has not yet been concluded.
