Prague - Architect Jan Kaplický will present his study of the new building of the National Library to Prague's representatives today. The proposal sparked debates immediately after the results of the international architectural competition were announced. It became evident that the construction of the library in Letná does not have the support of several city representatives.

A working group consisting of representatives from the city, the National Library, and the Ministry of Culture was even formed due to the planned construction of the new library. Kaplický is also a member. From its initiative, expert teams have been created to address various issues surrounding the building.
The legal, heritage protection, and architectural aspects of the construction are being addressed. Lawyers have already agreed, among other things, that the library can be built in another location in Prague than the originally selected site. The condition is that the author agrees to the relocation.
A group of heritage protection experts has requested additional visualizations of the planned library from various locations in the metropolis. Architects have reportedly stated that the core of the issues that need to be resolved lies in the legal realm.
According to Mayor Pavel Bém (ODS), five matters need to be resolved. It is essential to deal with the heritage protection perspective, land, the zoning plan, compliance with the rules of the international architectural competition, and funds for construction.
