Jihlava - Jihlava received five envelopes with price offers for the construction of the Horácká multifunctional arena. The deadline for their submission ended today at 10:00 AM. The offers will now need to be thoroughly checked, the city hall stated on the website. The city started the tender for the contractor in mid-February this year. The deadline for submitting offers has been postponed several times in the public procurement bulletin. The region has promised to contribute to the arena, and Jihlava is also expecting a grant from the National Sports Agency.

The city entered the tender with an estimated budget of around 1.3 billion crowns excluding tax. The amount of the submitted offers has not yet been disclosed.

According to the city hall, the offers must meet many requirements, and they now need to be thoroughly checked. "It must be verified that the procurement conditions are met, including qualification requirements and a number of other details. These and other steps obviously require time," stated David Beke (ODS), city councilor and project manager for the arena's construction. Although he believes the city is prepared for this, he expects that even with a quick process, it will take several weeks.

The new arena would allow not only hockey and other sporting events but also cultural events. It will be built on the site of the ice rink, whose demolition is also included in the contract. The preparations for the project were complicated by the coronavirus epidemic, and according to earlier statements from the city hall, the problems were exacerbated by the war in Ukraine. The postponement of the deadline for the submission of bids by construction companies was caused, according to the city hall, by the companies asking for details about the project.

The city expects a grant of 300 million crowns from the National Sports Agency. The Jihlava city council approved a loan of up to 600 million for the construction of the arena, and the Vysočina Region has promised to contribute half a billion crowns.
