Jihlava - Jihlava wants to use subsidies to renovate three buildings in the historic center. Two of them will house offices for city officials. The last building is set to return to the appearance of a burgher palace, with its halls being used for concerts and lectures. Another planned project in the city's heritage reserve concerns the renovation of Masaryk Square, where the first minor adjustments could begin next year, said Mayor Karolína Koubová (Forum Jihlava) to reporters today.

The revitalization of the square will be carried out by the city in phases, which are still being prepared. According to the mayor, next year new trees could be planted in the square. "Because we will know where and how. I would like the square to be greening as soon as possible," she said. Before construction work begins, according to her, traffic solutions in the square could also be improved.

The architectural competition for the revitalization of Masaryk Square was won last year by the Prague MCA atelier. Before the preparation of the project documentation and the construction is ready to start, it is also necessary to negotiate with the owner of the Prior department store about possible adjustments, according to the mayor. Representatives of the Jihlava city hall have long criticized the appearance of the department store.

The department store is managed by the company Le Cygne Sportif Groupe. Its property management director, Jan Hamáček, told ČTK that the company has just received an invitation from the city hall for negotiations. He noted that there have already been numerous such negotiations in the past, without results.

The city wants to create offices for its officials in the complex at U Mincovny 6 and 8, consisting of two buildings that used to house military administration. The city has been unsuccessfully trying to sell them for several years. It has applied for a grant for reconstruction, with results expected by the mayor around November. For the renovation of another building with the descriptive number 21, the city hall plans to seek support from Norwegian funds. Both projects, according to previously published information from the city hall, are worth tens of millions of crowns.

According to the latest decision of the city council, Jihlava will also begin preparing a regulatory plan for the city heritage reserve, which it currently lacks. According to the mayor, the plan will contribute to the unification of rules for the repair of buildings in the reserve.
