Chrudim - Chrudim is struggling to make progress in negotiations about the future shape of the site of the abolished summer cinema. Initially, the town hall wanted to build a parking lot at the expense of part of the auditorium and the projection booth, but after public protests, they backed down from the plan. Last spring, they announced that the intention was returning to square one. However, there is no agreement on the appearance of the site, said city spokesperson Sylva Drašnarová to ČTK.

Architect Václav Škarda has developed two design proposals for the city. One considers the preservation of the existing large concrete projection area, while the other proposes the construction of a new fixed screen according to the needs of the site and its operations. Both variants were agreed upon by the city architect Janatka as well.

"Two meetings of the working group have been held, and comments on the proposals are being addressed. It was initially anticipated that a public discussion with citizens could take place in September, but the date is still unclear," stated Drašnarová. She does not want to provide visualizations of both proposals, claiming that they are still in progress.

Richard Herbst from the MaChr association for Chrudim has developed his own picturesque proposal, but he was unsuccessful in negotiations. According to the association, due to technical reasons, it is not possible to move the projection booth closer to the concrete projection wall and thus free up space for any additional potential use.

The permanent summer stage behind the regional museum was closed by the city due to its high operating costs after the summer season of 2005. In May 2007, the leadership of Chrudim approved a plan for the revitalization of the area down to the confluence of the Chrudimka river with the flume. The study included reducing the number of seats, and part of the area behind the museum was to be transformed into a parking lot. After the municipal elections in October 2010 and changes at the town hall, the preparation of project documentation was suspended. Since June 2011, the association has rented the site and has been organizing film screenings and cultural, social, and other events there.

Last summer, a planning meeting on the topic of the summer cinema was held with the public, along with a questionnaire survey. People mostly demanded the preservation of the original projection area, the sloping terrain of the auditorium, and a quiet zone without cars. At the same time, they expressed dissatisfaction with the insufficient support from the city and the dilapidated state of the site.
