Prague - Dozens of castles, chateaus, churches, and monasteries, palaces, gardens, and villas will open their doors to the public this evening. The traditional Night of Castles and Chateaus will offer a special program - guided tours, knights' tournaments, concerts, night cinema, and theatrical performances. This year, the main program takes place at the Kynžvart chateau in the Cheb region.
The Night of Castles and Chateaus is being organized for the ninth time by the National Heritage Institute as the highlight of the summer tourist season. This year's edition will feature 68 monuments managed by the state and 30 partner monuments. Compared to previous editions, this is a record number. Interested parties can find detailed program information and a list of monuments participating in this year's event on its website.
Night tours and unconventional programs await visitors, for example, in the gardens under Prague Castle or in Valdštejn Palace, at Červená Lhota Castle, in the Sázava Monastery, at Rabí Castle, or in the famous Brno villas Löw-Beer, Stiassni, Tugendhat, and Jurkovičova. The National Stud Farm in Kladruby will also open its doors in the evening. The Central Bohemian Loučeň Castle has prepared a medieval feast, a knights' tournament, and a marathon of tours that will last until dawn.
The main monument of the Night of Castles and Chateaus this year is the Kynžvart chateau. Its visitors will step back into the time of Chancellor and Prince Clemens von Metternich, who owned the chateau. A camp of Napoleon's army soldiers will be set up around the chateau, and the main program will take place in the courtyard of the chateau and its interiors. A unique table will be set according to the rules from the time of Prince Metternich.
