Brno - Four Brno villas, which belong to the gems of modern architecture, will once again participate in the castle night this year. On Saturday, August 27, they will offer, in addition to tours, a music program. In Villa Stiassni, visitors will follow in the footsteps of one of its most famous guests. The organizers did not want to reveal who it is today. The villa, nicknamed the government villa, hosted many prominent figures.
"The famous figure will eventually reveal themselves to the visitors; before that, in each room, they will receive a clue and should thus ponder whose footsteps they are following," said Petr Svoboda from Villa Stiassni.
Villa Tugendhat will have a rich music program focused on jazz this year. For example, the band of Brno guitarist Milan Kašuba will play, filling the villa's garden with famous evergreens and Latin American rhythms. A special guest of the program will also be the singer Gabriela Kočí.
The goal of the castle night is to show that monuments are living houses where something interesting is happening. The program and time after 6:00 PM are therefore unconventional. In Brno, the Löw-Beer Villa, Villa Stiassni, Jurkovič Villa, and Villa Tugendhat, which is on the UNESCO heritage list, will open their doors just like last year.
All four villas have recently been presented together, even though they have different owners. According to experts, Brno is significant for its architecture from the second half of the 19th century and the interwar period. The villas needed expensive repairs. The last to be reconstructed was the Löw-Beer Villa, which was owned by the parents of Greta Tugendhat. Their daughter and her husband built their own villa on originally shared land on the slope above her parents' villa. Last year, visitors could walk through the gardens of both villas. This year, they can expect an Art Nouveau fireworks display. It will differ from the classical one in that it will be ground-level.
