Frýdek-Místek - Three buildings of the former textile factory in Frýdek-Místek will have their facades renovated. The city has decided to contribute more than half a million crowns to the Slezan company for their preservation and restoration, city spokesperson Jana Matějíková said today.

"The money was allocated to Slezan from the grant program for the regeneration of buildings with historical or historicizing facades located in the city, which are outside the urban monument zone and are not listed as cultural monuments,"
said Deputy Mayor Karel Deutscher (ČSSD).

According to him, the program is intended to motivate owners of historical buildings that are not in monument zones to restore their facades. "We do not want simple cladding of external walls with polystyrene and a new coat of plaster during repairs; instead, we want the new facade to have a historicizing character with architectural elements of the given period," Deutscher added. However, he noted that such repairs mean increased costs, and therefore the city wants to support them.

The buildings in Těšínská and Beskydská streets, as well as the building near the train station, will be renovated. For the three-story building in Těšínská street, for example, the plan includes the removal of non-compliant elements and the repair of part of the facade, with renovations costing nearly one million crowns. The building in Beskydská street is awaiting not only the repair of the sculpture on the façade of the front wall but also the replacement of windows and doors and a complete facade renovation, all for more than half a million crowns. For the last building, the plan includes the removal of invasive vegetation from the masonry or repairs and replacements of parapet and cornice metalwork as well as gutters. The work will cost around 240,000 crowns.

"One million crowns could be distributed in the program. Therefore, there are still over 480,000 crowns available,"
the spokesperson stated. Those interested in grants can apply for the second round from June 18 to August 12, with the project needing to be completed and accounted for by the end of November. Applicants can obtain a grant of up to 30 percent of eligible costs, but a maximum of 300,000 crowns for one project.
