How many trees will be added to the streets? Will we achieve a quality coexistence with the river? How will we deal with the protection of normalization architecture, will we revive the buildings from the 1970s lying desolate, or will they be demolished? What does the industrial district look like in the post-industrial era? Will there be more swimming pools in Czech cities by 2020? Is there, and what does public space look like outside the metropolis? This year's edition of the nationwide Architecture Day festival, organized by the civic association Kruh, will celebrate its five-year anniversary on the first weekend of October. However, it looks to the future and poses the question - what will it be like in 5 years? “We are witnessing an explosion of interest in the urban environment, public space, local activism, neighborhoods, and street life. Is architecture and public space a common interest? Will the quality of staying, moving, and the environment in Czech cities become a priority for local representatives? Will architecture and urbanism be part of a long-term city development strategy?”, says Marcela Steinbachová, the founder of Architecture Day, about this year's theme – What will it be like in 5 years.
