Hradec Králové – Československá obchodní banka has opened a regional headquarters in Hradec Králové with a thousand employees. The building, with a capacity of 1,050 workers, is located near the Aldis Congress Center on the left bank of the Elbe, close to the city center, and construction began in December 2018. Most of the staff at the Hradec headquarters consists of people who the bank previously had at four different locations in Hradec Králové. The bank did not disclose the costs of constructing the facility, which has 4.1 hectares of usable space.
About half of the headquarters' staff are employees of the client center, which also includes a call center. Another significant part consists of approximately 350 employees from the processing center. The building also houses business units for corporate and institutional clients, private banking, and ČSOB Leasing. There is a dining option for the public in the building. "At the beginning of next year, a branch of the bank and Czech Post will be opened to clients,” said ČSOB board member Marcela Suchánková.
The building, constructed by Syner, has five above-ground floors and two underground levels, offering over 300 parking spaces for cars. The roof is covered with greenery. "The facility is heated and cooled by heat pumps. The energy source consists of 107 energy wells deep up to 200 meters. The building is not connected to any other energy source except for electricity,” stated Ivo Koukol, director of building construction at ČSOB. The bank claims that the building is one of the most modern in Europe due to the technologies used.
The facility is the latest in a series of large buildings on Eliščina waterfront. ČSOB has been preparing the project for a long time. In October 2015, it signed a contract with the city to purchase 8,128 m² of land in the Aldis zone for 28.45 million crowns. Subsequently, it chose the design by the architectural firm Projektil architekti for the appearance of the building, which had already designed the Study and Scientific Library building in Hradec Králové.
