Brno – The first stage of the reconstruction of the polyclinic in Lesná has been completed in Brno, lasting two years. The costs were 160 million crowns, Brno Mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS) told reporters today. The Brno-North district covered 30 million, the rest was funded by the city. The pavilions have a new facade and roof, and there is now barrier-free access. Future interior modifications are planned.

The Lesná polyclinic was built on Halasovo náměstí at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s and was opened in 1974. "Since its construction, it has not undergone significant layout changes or renovations. Therefore, it needed reconstruction," Vaňková stated.

According to Deputy Mayor Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL), the first stage included insulation of the outer shell except for Pavilion C. "We also repaired the roof structure, built laboratory facilities, rental units, and a new barrier-free entrance. There is a new floor in the basement of Pavilions D and E," Hladík said.

According to him, the technical installations and vertical conduits are also new. In the future, the work is expected to affect the interior, including wiring such as electricity, and adjustments to the building layouts will also be made. According to Brno Investment Councilor David Grund (ODS), money will need to be found for this.

About 40 doctors from 15 specialties are based in the building. Builders, according to Vaňková, worked while the facility was in operation, and the work affected individual doctors for a maximum of two weeks. Brno-North Deputy Mayor Miriam Kolářová (KDU-ČSL) added that many people from not only the Brno-North district but also the surrounding area visit the polyclinic daily.
