Brno - Brno is looking for a company to reconstruct the polyclinic in the Lesná housing estate in the Brno-north district. The first phase of the repair will cost nearly 130 million crowns, including the reconstruction of the basement and insulation of the building. The mayor's deputy Richard Mrázek (ANO) told reporters today. According to him, work could start this summer and finish in about a year.
The building from the 1970s has two floors above ground and a basement. Since its opening, no major repairs have been made according to the mayor's deputy Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL), and the structure has energy losses due to old windows. The reconstruction of the entire polyclinic will require several phases. "It is a specific reconstruction because there is asbestos. There will therefore be increased monitoring conditions to handle this hazardous material according to regulations," said Mrázek.
Work will temporarily limit the operation of the clinics in the polyclinic. "The reconstruction will be divided into ten sections. One will always be done in such a way that the clinic is closed for two weeks and work is carried out. Two weeks is the usual time when a clinic can be closed, for example, for a doctor's holiday. If it were longer, they would have to report the interruption of healthcare services to the insurance companies," explained Hladík. He added that each doctor and their patients will know in advance when their clinic will be closed.
In further phases, the city plans to repair the internal distribution of water, heating, electricity, and waste, change some layouts, and also work on the parking lot.
The polyclinic in Lesná has been serving continuously as a healthcare center since its opening in 1974, catering to 50,000 residents. In 2005, the state transferred it to Brno, which entrusted it to the care of the local district. The polyclinic has dozens of tenants, most of whom are doctors of various specializations.
