Brno - Brno has announced a tender for the reconstruction and sale of certain buildings in the expansive area of the former city slaughterhouse on Masná Street. The process will be facilitated by the city company Jižní Centrum Brno. In the approximately 500 square meter buildings, cultural spaces, studios, or possibly offices should be created according to the city's vision. "For the investor, the main factor will not be the price of the buildings, which have structural issues, but primarily the reconstruction. According to estimates, it will not go below 15 million crowns," said Vlastimil Žďárský, chairman of the board of Jižní Centrum Brno, to ČTK. Some buildings in the industrial area by the Svitava River were built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. In the buildings that are part of the tender, there used to be a lard rendering plant, said Leoš Chasák from the Brno Communications company, which now owns the area. The city slaughterhouse gradually ceased operations in Brno in the 1980s and 1990s. Investors can submit their bids regarding the reconstruction and sale of the buildings by Friday, with evaluations expected to take place in December.
