Brno - Brno wants to build a new pavilion for the Accident Hospital for roughly half a billion. It needs to change the zoning plan to do so. This was stated today by the Deputy Mayor Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL) to reporters. The change in the zoning plan will take about a year. The construction of the pavilion, which will include operating rooms, ARO, and ICU, as well as parking spaces, could begin in 2021 and should be completed within a year and a half to two years.
The pavilion is to be located opposite the current complex, in the place of a parking lot. The location is designated in the zoning plan for healthcare, construction is possible here, but it does not suffice for the size of the planned pavilion. "Therefore, we will change part of the area with the heliport and asphalt, which is designated as public space and cannot be built upon, in the zoning plan for healthcare purposes. This way we will be able to build there ... The rest will be greenery so that there can be a park," Hladík described.
The new pavilion will have eight floors and a heliport on the roof. According to Hladík, the first four floors will feature a parking lot with a capacity of 160 spaces, which will replace the canceled spots in the surface parking lot. The number of spaces for patients and visitors will increase. On the fifth to seventh floors, there will be seven operating rooms available, as the current rooms are no longer suitable. There will also be an anesthesiology-resuscitation department and an intensive care unit. 26 beds will be created for them. The last floor will include central sterilization and technical facilities.
The Accident Hospital performs about 7,000 surgeries annually. It is one of the hospitals operated by the city of Brno. The other is the Hospital of the Merciful Brothers, which it rents from the Order of the Merciful Brothers.
