Brno - Brno wants to have a building permit in a year and a half for the creation of a sports and recreation area near the Anthropos museum pavilion. The estimated costs for building the area are 300 million crowns, said the city councilor for sports Jaroslav Suchý (KDU-ČSL) to ČTK. The area is expected to open to the public in 2023.
The preparation of project documentation will be handled by the company Arch.Design, which was successful in the selection process. "It will prepare the documentation for 12.7 million crowns excluding VAT. Besides the economic advantage, we also considered the quality of the team. The company will take the project all the way to the building permit. We anticipate obtaining it at the beginning of 2022," Suchý stated.
The sports facility will include several courts for recreational sports, an inline track, a climbing wall, a small soccer field, beach volleyball, and a workout area. "The location behind Anthropos has a historical connection to sports, and people still visit it today for walks or cycling. The goal is to create modern sports facilities. We have already opened the area more to the public. Recently, we allowed clubs and individuals to rent the Anthropos gym," said Mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS).
Brno acquired the unused area last year from the Ministry of Defense with the intention of building a sports complex there. The city took over a grass soccer field including adjacent land and an outbuilding covering over 28,000 square meters and a former military gymnasium with related land of over 1,600 square meters. The city received part of the area free of charge, while it paid 11 million crowns for the other part.
