Boskovice (Blanensko) - Boskovice in Blanensko needs a sports hall. The town has five school gymnasiums. However, they are small for the needs of athletes, some sports cannot even be practiced in them, and the spaces are so cramped that they are unsuitable for organizing championships. Therefore, the city hall plans to build a new hall in the future for about 50 million crowns, said city spokesman Jaroslav Parma today to ČTK.
The councilors recently decided that they want a completely new hall. The town has the opportunity to buy the dilapidated castle riding school for nearly eight million crowns, which once served as a gymnasium. Its renovation would cost around 30 million crowns. Even after reconstruction, however, the riding school would not be spacious enough.
The city leadership therefore agreed that Boskovice will strive for the construction of a new and modern hall. The councilors believe that public competition could reduce the costs to below the expected 50 million. Thus, they would be almost the same as the costs associated with the technically complicated reconstruction of the riding schools.
There is a lack of space especially for volleyball players, basketball players, floorball players, and futsal players. For important matches, they have to rent sports halls in nearby Letovice and Jaroměřice.
The city knows what kind of hall it wants, but it has been struggling for many years to secure funding for it. It attempted to obtain grants for the project but was unsuccessful. The intention could be financed from the revenue from the sale of city apartments and possibly from a loan.
