Boskovice – Boskovice in the Blanensko region has advanced in the preparation for the construction of a sports hall and is looking for a contractor. The expected investment amount is 174.5 million crowns, with a maximum acceptable bid price of 230 million crowns. Construction could begin in 2026. This was stated to journalists today by the mayor of the city, Jana Syrovátková (Změna 22). The construction of the sports hall is the first phase of the renovation of the Červená zahrada sports complex, which the city has been working on for many years.

The Červená zahrada sports complex is operational and includes, for example, football fields and tennis courts. In 2023, the city announced an architectural competition for its renovation, and the winning proposal has redesigned the area, primarily adding the much-needed sports hall.

The city wants to start the renovation of the complex with the construction of the sports hall and is beginning to seek a supplier. "For its construction, we chose the Design & Build method through an architectural competition. We are simultaneously competing construction suppliers alongside the architect, thus eliminating extra work, and we know the final price at the start of construction. At the same time, we are looking for the best solution and the best possible design for the construction for the given funds. We selected this option also because the city budget is not limitless, and we need to know how much we will pay for the sports hall within the framework of the medium-term budget outlook," said Syrovátková.

The hall will serve multiple sports, such as volleyball, basketball, floorball, futsal, football, and gymnastics. The contract includes both the construction work and pre-project and project preparation, primarily the permitting and execution project documentation and related engineering activities. Compared to the original proposal, the chosen variant is somewhat modest, for example, instead of an auditorium for 500 spectators, there will be an auditorium for 250 spectators, and a restaurant will be absent.

"We will evaluate the bids in terms of design as well as finances, looking for the best compromise. This does not mean that the cheapest bid will win, nor will the most design-oriented option if it is outside our budget. The maximum price for the city is 230 million crowns; any proposals exceeding this amount will not be admitted to the competition,” the mayor added.

The end of the process of finding a contractor is planned for October, when the city should know the winner. In spring 2026, it could then apply for a building permit, and construction could start later that year. It should be completed in approximately one year. The city is then counting on further phases of the renovation of the sports complex.

Boskovice has about 12,000 inhabitants. The management of Boskovice has been dealing with the renovation of the Červená zahrada sports complex for years, as well as the placement of the sports hall. As early as 2016, the then management presented a study that addressed the sports complex issues. New sports facilities were to be created, primarily the sports hall. However, the plan did not materialize.
