Boskovice (Blanensko) - The town hall in Boskovice will have the project for the construction of the municipal sports hall revised to make it cheaper. It was created in 2007, when the estimated costs for the construction of the hall were 54 million crowns. Although the use of cheaper materials would make the building less aesthetic, it could save several million. Boskovice Mayor Jaroslav Dohnálek (ODS) said this today to ČTK.

The town will allocate 150,000 crowns for the revision of the project. The architects have already given several suggestions on where to save costs. The expensive ceramic cladding of the building should be replaced with a cheaper option, and the originally planned reinforced concrete frame of the building could be made of steel beams.
The grandstand for spectators could be slightly smaller. Savings could also come from only building the rough structure of the planned bowling alley, as an extension of the sports hall. The completion could take place several years later, when the financial situation is better.
"We don’t know exactly how much we will save by modifying the project. According to my rough estimates, it could be around four million, possibly even a larger amount. We will see soon," added the mayor.
The intention is to have the documentation prepared by July so that the town can apply for funding for the project, or at least not delay the announcement of a tender for the construction contractor. It is still unclear when the construction of the building could actually begin.
The new hall will be used by Boskovice volleyball players, basketball players, floorball players, and futsal players, for important matches they need to rent sports halls in Letovice and Jaroměřice.
