Boskovice - Boskovice in the Blansko region plans to build the Červená zahrada sports complex, where primarily a sports hall will be created, which is currently missing in Boskovice. It will consist of several independent phases, with a total investment in the billions of crowns. In response to a query from ČTK, Mayor Jana Syrovátková (Změna 22) said this at a press conference today. In the Červená zahrada area, sports facilities are operational, and the city has been seeking a more suitable solution for them. The Červená zahrada sports complex and the new sports hall have been under consideration in Boskovice for several years.

Last June, the city announced an architectural competition for the sports complex, which received 11 project entries, with the independent jury selecting the proposal from the Boskovice studio of Martin Doležel as the best. "The winning design strikes me as very harmonious and is well executed. What I appreciate about it is its humility and the work with space. It is nothing that is unfeasible, nor is it an economic absurdity. It is something that is achievable in relatively the near future, and it works well with the space for both athletes and the public," said the mayor.

The Červená zahrada sports facilities are operational, featuring football fields and tennis courts, for example. The winning design has reworked the area, with the primary addition being the sports hall; the tennis courts will be moved to another part, and the arrangement of the football fields will be altered, including both main and training pitches.

"First, we want to build what we don't have in Boskovice, which is a sports hall. We know its location, and it is such that construction can begin almost immediately, with no requirement for further investment," stated the mayor. The hall itself is expected to cost around 150 to 200 million crowns, representing the first phase of work. Following that, tennis and volleyball courts and parking areas will be next. The number of parking spaces, including those in the underground garage of the sports hall, should be 300; without the underground garages, it will be 220. The third phase involves part of the football fields. According to the mayor, the total investment will be in the billions.

This year, the city plans to obtain a study for the sports hall and a project for the building permit, hoping to apply for and obtain the permit in a better-case scenario. Next year, Boskovice hopes to reach the implementation project documentation and select a contractor for the hall's construction. According to the mayor, construction could begin in 2026.

Boskovice has about 11,500 inhabitants. The management of Boskovice has been dealing with modifications to the Červená zahrada sports complex for years, as well as the location of the sports hall. As early as 2016, the then-management presented a study addressing the sports complex, which was developed in three variants. New sports facilities, primarily the sports hall, were to be created. The costs were estimated at around 200 to 300 million crowns.
