We invite all interested in the history and present of architecture to a lecture by Zdeněk Lukeš titled "Danish Evening of Architecture" on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at 5:00 PM, which will explore the connections between the Czech lands and Denmark from the 19th century to the present. The lecture will be held in the cinema hall of the National Technical Museum under the patronage of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Prague.
One of the most significant representatives of the era of historicism, Danish Theophil von Hansen, educated a number of Czech students at the Vienna Academy. The functionalist Arne Jacobsen influenced the work of some of our designers, just like the author of the iconic building - the Sydney Opera House, Jørn Utzon. Danish architecture and design still rank among the world's best today. Copenhagen and its surroundings have become one of the epicenters of global creativity thanks to studios such as the BIG office.
