Ostrava - Architect Josef Pleskot will exhibit at the Gong in Ostrava, a former gas holder. In the building that he designed himself, models of his unrealized projects will also be on display. The exhibition will be opened on December 1st. The spokesperson Eva Kijonková informed CTK about this on behalf of the organizers.
"Already on Sunday, December 2nd, at 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM, interested visitors will be able to view the exhibition with commentary from Mr. Pleskot and the exhibition curator Pavel Brunclík," said the spokesperson.

The core of the exhibition will consist of dozens of photographs of the works by architect Josef Pleskot and his studio, their models, as well as models of buildings that were ultimately not constructed. "There will also be various works of art that have somehow influenced architect Pleskot in his creation. Therefore, some treasures of Czech visual art will appear in Ostrava. These will include works by Adriena Šimotová, Stanislav Kolíbal, Jan Merta, Ivan Kafka, Vladimír Skrepl, Mário Kotrba, Jiří Kovanda, and others. The exhibition will also present a book by Josef Pleskot titled 'On the Way," Kijonková listed.
Pleskot has been involved in the revitalization project of Lower Vítkovice for years. It was he who designed the project that transformed the former giant gas holder into a modern multifunctional hall. He is currently also working on the transformation of the nearby Trojhalí Karolina. It is set to become a unique public space, a so-called covered square, which will serve among other things as an unconventional exhibition space.
The opening intended for the general public will take place at the Multifunctional Hall Gong in Lower Vítkovice on Saturday, December 1st at 4:00 PM, and the exhibition will be open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM until March 29, 2013.
Pleskot, who holds numerous awards, was born on December 3, 1952, in Písek and lives in Prague. In 1979, he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague. Some of his most famous works include the town hall in Benešov, a villa in Vrané nad Vltavou, a nature trail in Jelení příkop, the passage of the earthen rampart of the Powder Bridge at Prague Castle, and the office building Palmovka Park in Prague-Libeň. His latest projects include the ČSOB complex in Prague-Radlice and the Sonberk winery building.
