We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition Pavel Preisner, Svatopluk Sládeček: On Fathers Whom Children Help Grow Up on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 6:00 PM at the House of Art in the Gallery of Jaroslav Král. The exhibition will be introduced by the mayor of the statutory city of Brno, Markéta Vaňková, participating artists, and curator Rostislav Koryčánek. Concurrently, an exhibition Milena Dopitová: The Next Stop is on Signal will be opened on the first floor of the House of Art.
About the exhibition: Urgent questions associated with the experience of fatherhood are the theme of the exhibition, which connects two long-time companions from Zlín - painter Pavel Preisner and architect Svatopluk Sládeček. Each has gone through the process of self-definition as a father in a different constellation, and this newly established category has begun to gradually respond to each of their professions. Pavel Preisner is a painter for whom fatherhood is a catalyst for a series of fragile childhood memories. Svatopluk Sládeček is an architect for whom the child's world gains the same significance as architectural composition. For the conception of the exhibition, it is also important that both authors are intimately familiar with each other's work, having discussed, defended, and mutually influenced it many times. The final form of the exhibition was also created in the course of a long-term dialogue and works with media that are unique to each of them. Pavel Preisner is represented by paintings from his "fatherhood" series, which took more than three years to create, while Svatopluk Sládeček has created an object that will be a spatial pendant to the exhibited paintings and a physical experience of the father's destiny.
