The Peter Parléř Award for 2012 was awarded to Ing. Marie Hlavatá for the architectural study of the square in Valašské Klobouky. The second prize for the architectural study of the square in Valašské Meziříčí was awarded to Ing. arch. Jan Albrecht. No third prize was awarded.

On January 17, 2013, a jury meeting took place, which selected the winners of the 10th year of the Peter Parléř Award. This year, announced on September 24, 2012, focused on the towns of Valašské Klobouky, Valašské Meziříčí, and Železný Brod. The fourth theme - the town of Sokolov - unfortunately remained of no interest to the competitors.

The jury consisted of the following personalities: Jiří Částečka, Mgr. Jiří Pernický, Ing. Martin Janík, Ing. Daniel Mach, Ing.arch. Tomáš Hradečný, Ing.arch. MgA. Alena Korandová, Doc. akad.arch. Petr Kovář, Ing.arch. Jan Sedlák, Ing.arch. Eva Špačková, Ing.arch. Tomáš Vích, Ing.arch. Jaroslav Wertig

A total of ten architectural projects were submitted to the competition. Four projects, numbers 2, 4, 5, and 8, were selected for the final round. At this stage, the jury concluded that, apart from two proposals, no others met the parameters for awarding a prize. It was therefore decided that no third place would be awarded.
After a difficult decision and further voting, the jury ultimately determined project number 5 by the team of Ing. Marie Hlavatá, Ing. arch. Josef Hlavatý, and Ing. arch. Lenka Hlavatá as the winner of the Peter Parléř Award 2012 (in the amount of 140,000 CZK) for their work on the theme of the reconstruction of Masaryk Square in Valašské Klobouky.
The second place and the Ministry of the Environment award (in the amount of 120,000 CZK) was won by project number 4 by Ing. arch. Jan Albrecht and MgA. Renata Slámková. They focused on the town of Valašské Meziříčí, for which they created a proposal for the regeneration of the square's parterre along with the adjacent Mostní Street.

1st prize: PETER PARLÉŘ AWARD 2012 in the amount of 140,000 CZK

Proposal No. 5
Theme: Valašské Klobouky - Reconstruction of Masaryk Square
Authors: Ing. Marie Hlavatá, Ing.arch. Josef Hlavatý, Ing.arch. Lenka Hlavatá

Jury assessment:

The proposal impressed the jury with its civil and appropriate solution, which sensitively connects with the poetry of the place and unifies the whole while maintaining the livability of the space inspired by the atmosphere of historical photographs.
The work is refined down to the smallest details. The completed buildings are dealt with sensitively.
The jury appreciated the proposed solution, where the organization of traffic is diminished in favor of the square as a whole, while still maintaining the necessary traffic service.
For most members of the Evaluation Board, the problematic element is the tower in the corner of the square, and the proposed underground garage is considered unrealistic at this time.
The reduction of greenery was positively assessed, as well as the ingenious replacement of the original grassy slope with a terraced staircase featuring benches and the possibility of seating. The positioning of the staircase along the axis connecting the Marian column with the church tower works well.
The quality of the solution for the square's space, the rear tract, and the area near the church lies in its versatility, diversity, and has a touch of individuality.
In the next stage of processing the proposal, care should be taken to maintain the lapidary nature, discretion, and cleanliness of the space, especially at the bus stops.

2nd prize: MINISTRY OF THE ENVIRONMENT AWARD in the amount of 120,000 CZK

Proposal No. 4
Theme: Valašské Meziříčí - Regeneration of the square's parterre along with the adjacent Mostní Street
Authors: Ing.arch. Jan Albrecht, MgA. Renata Slámková

Jury assessment:
The main new quality of the proposal is the demarcation of a platform with the new formation of the square's transverse axis and the completion of the composition of solitary elements. The authors succeeded in weakening the longitudinal dimension by incorporating two new motifs.
The proposal advances the spaces further, multiplying the number of nooks and thus creating new strong spots, without exaggerating or multiplying new entries. This discipline of space elevates the whole. The horizontal plane of the square, which is elevated on one side due to its slope and sunk on the other, seems to nod in the transverse axis created by inserting two new artistic elements.
The new building on the triangular plot is debatable. The schematic solution does not represent any quality. The indicated surface solutions for the parterre, which lack refinement and quality, do not correspond to the basic, quality, and generous concept of the proposal.
A beneficial aspect is the proposed greenery solution: lawns were removed, and the greens concept is unconventional and special in its asymmetry, as it does not repeat the traditional tree rows around the entire square, but rather addresses it from two sides with an emphasis on four large trees that accentuate the statue of St. John of Nepomuk.
